B.U.D.'S Foundation-Bikers United to Defend driving Safely
Each year, B.U.D.'S Foundation presents scholarships in memory of Fallen Riders. Some recipients may be children of Fallen Riders while others were nominated within the community. Such scholarships are named the Jackson-Williams Scholarship in memory of two former Shaw University students De’Andre Jackson affectionately known as “Kuntry” and Bryant Williams affectionately known as "Big Worm". In 2019, we also introduced the Arnie "Serious One" Morris Scholarship. And In 2021, we introduce The Godfather Scholarship in memory of Lewis Clark affectionately known as The Godfather. These scholarships are opportunities for undergraduate students while promoting diversity and assist students across all program areas.
The Jackson-Williams Scholarship:
This scholarship for a Shaw University student is by nomination of the Shaw University’s faculty/staff. Applicants must be a full-time, traditional student at Shaw University.
Arnie "Serious One" Morris Scholarships:
These scholarships are for children of fallen riders or applicants within the community at large who are high school seniors or college students who submit the application requirements to the B.U.D.’S Foundation Children of Fallen Riders Fund. The Board makes a vote and the notifies the winning recipient(s). The B.U.D.’S Foundation is on a mission to provide college scholarships, endowments and educational counseling to children who have lost a parent through an illness, a non-fault accident or incident. B.U.D.’S Foundation believes that is honoring the memory of these fallen men and women by contributing to the future of those they loved – their children.
The Godfather Scholarship in memory of Lewis Clark, aka The Godfather
The Godfather's Scholarship in Memory of Lewis Clark will be open to a student from Gretna, VA. Since Lewis Clark, aka Godfather, was not only one of the Greatest ambassadors for B.U.D.'S FOUNDATION, but of course, he was a true advocate for motorcycle awareness and safety. In light of his memory, we wanted to keep his light shining bright. After speaking with his family, we announced "The Godfather's Scholarship in Memory of Lewis Clark".
Since 2014, B.U.D.’S Foundation has provided over $20,000.00 in total assistance to students. Since many students are in school because of government assistance programs that unfortunately do not cover the full cost of tuition, B.U.D.’S Foundation strives to bridge the funding gap between government assistance and the cost of a four-year degree. In addition to scholarships and financial aid, many surviving children are also comforted to receive emotional support from B.U.D.’S Foundation Children of Fallen Riders Christmas Fund by receiving some of their Christmas Wish List Items in memory of their fallen or seriously injured out of work parent.
